Maria Silveira, MD, MPH, MA

Maria J. Silveira, MD, MA, MPH, is an internist, health services researcher, and ethicist examining issues surrounding the end of life. She joined the faculty in General Medicine at the University of Michigan in 2001. She is a clinician scientist based at the Health Services Research and Development Center of Excellence at the Ann Arbor VA Hospital. Dr. Silveira has published research regarding public and physician knowledge about laws governing end of life, the geography of death, decision making about end-of-life care and symptom burden at the end of life. Currently, she is exploring ways to improve access to hospice and palliative care.
