Michael Poulin, PhD

Michael Poulin received his Ph.D. in Health Psychology from the University of California at Irvine and is now a postdoctoral fellow at CBDSM. His research focuses on the effects of stress on health and well-being, and he is particularly interested in the ways people cope with stressful events, including illness and bereavement.

Dr. Poulin's past and ongoing work examines how people's beliefs about the world, including religious beliefs and beliefs about the trustworthiness of others, influence adjustment to stress. More recently, he has started to examine the unique role of helping behavior and motivation, including caring for a seriously ill loved one, in coping with stress.

When away from the lab or computer, he is likely to be cooking, hiking through the woods, or just enjoying time with his wife, dog, and baby boy.
